OMI-MEX MSKCC Seminar in Oncology: Hematologic Malignancies
Specialized Training in Hematologic Oncology
From September 21 to 23, 2026, the OMI MEX MSKCC Seminar in Oncology: Hematologic Malignancies took place in collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and the Open Medical Institute (OMI).
The program brought together faculty and fellows to explore different aspects of hematologic malignancies, combining specialized academic sessions with clinical case discussions and knowledge exchange.
The seminar was directed by Craig S. Sauter, MD, and Paul A. Hamlin, MD, who also participated as faculty alongside other specialists in hematologic oncology.
The sessions covered lymphomas, leukemias, myeloproliferative disorders, and myelodysplasia, as well as topics related to lymphoma classification and genetics and the management of conditions such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, hairy cell leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, and mantle cell lymphoma.
The program also included therapeutic strategies such as autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, high-dose chemotherapy, and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. Supportive care in allogeneic transplantation was also addressed.
From Academic Sessions to Clinical Discussion
Active fellow participation was an important part of the program through workshops featuring clinical case presentations and discussions, allowing participants to apply session content to concrete clinical situations and engage in discussion with faculty and fellow participants.
An International Academic Collaboration
The collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center created an opportunity for fellows to engage with specialists across different areas of hematologic oncology.
The seminar was accredited as a continuing medical education activity through Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Open Medical Institute, and was designated for up to 13 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for participating physicians.
Through these types of academic programs, OMI-MEX strengthens opportunities for continuing education and professional development for young physicians, connecting them with specialists and internationally recognized institutions while promoting the exchange of knowledge around the current challenges of medical practice.
